Dr. Rose Beattie’s students have won finalist awards in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (Encouragement Award), the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the Music Center’s Spotlight Award, and in the Pacific Musical Society Competition.
In film and television, Dr. Beattie’s student’s achieved great success. Her student Anthony Gonzales performed the singing and acting lead-role of Miguel in Disney Pixar’s film “Coco”.
Several other students won finalist positions on “America’s Got Talent”, NBC’s hit musical competition “The Sing-Off”, Univision’s “Reina de la Canción”, and were featured on the movie Pitch Perfect 2.
Another student, Angelito Garcia, was a recent invited guest on “Un Nuevo Dia” performing a tribute to Juan Gabriel. In 2017 he also participated in the Univision show “Pequeños Gigantes” winning second place.
Her student’s solo opportunities have brought them such venues as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Walt Disney Concert Hall (with the Los Angeles Master Chorale and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra), Segerstrom Concert Hall, and also in Iceland where they sang with the chorus in the Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik. Dr. Beattie’s students also sing at San Francisco Opera, the Aspen Music Festival, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, Opera Las Vegas, Pacific Opera Project, and Pocket Opera among others.
Her students have been accepted with scholarships to vocal performance programs and colleges such as, Mannes School of Music, Boston Conservatory, Columbia University, University of Michigan Opera Theater, Peabody Conservatory, Emory Oxford College, Yale University, Tufts University, USC School of the Dramatic Arts, USC Thornton School of Music (Opera Studies, Music Industry), University of California Los Angeles Herb Albert School of Music, University of California Berkely, University of Nevada, Las Vegas Opera Theater, California State University Northridge, University of California San Diego, California State University Fullerton, Chapman University, California State University Long Beach, University of California Santa Barbara, and University of California Irvine.
Dr. Beattie prepped many students who were accepted to very competitive arts high schools like Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, California School of the Arts, Idyllwild Arts Academy, Walnut Hill School for the Arts, and the Orange County School of the Arts.
Dr. Beattie is equally proud of her courageous students that, though they may not espouse professional singing careers, attain significant personal singing goals once found daunting. Some of these accomplishments include learning how to match pitch for a first time or finding their authentic sound and appreciation for their own individual voice.
Others triumph in the face of intense insecurity, fear, performance anxiety, and disabilities. Still others become great community singers contributing to the musical fabric of synagogues, churches, and thriving local theaters.
Whether celebrating a student’s new recording of original pop songs or helping the serious classical singer land a full-ride to the Mannes School of Music, Dr. Beattie cherishes and celebrates every break-through at every level.
